New in this release: New product names, new projects workflow and setup wizards, custom roles for org admins

Updated over a week ago

This is a SaaS-only update

Back end version: v8.26.6.2-gpu
Front end version: v3.8.28.1

In this release we’ve made major updates to the platform, and to the Defend and Red-Team products.

Features

Announcing new product names!

With the early access release of our Red-Team product, we have done some rebranding. The new names reflect our mission to secure the entire inference perimeter.

  • Our original scanner product is now called CalypsoAI Inference Defend.

  • Our red-teaming product is called CalypsoAI Inference Red-Team.

Model Configurations is now Connections

We’ve renamed the Model Configurations page to Connections. This reflects the expanded scope of the platform to include not just AI models and providers, but applications for red-teaming. To add a model to the CalypsoAI platform, navigate to the Connections page.

Groups are now Projects

With this release, we’re introducing the concept of a project. Projects replace the earlier concept of “Groups,” and combine all the core functionality you need in a single place.

If you’ve been using groups in your organization, those groups have been automatically converted to projects.

There are three project types, and in each case a wizard guides you through the setup steps and required information:

  • Select App if you want CalypsoAI to scan, audit, and block prompts and responses to and from AI applications and models.

  • Select Bot to install the CalypsoAI app into Slack or Teams.

  • Select CalypsoAI chat if you want to provide employees with a single, protected interface for interacting with AI models.

A project brings together scanner configuration, connection access, access control, and API tokens, allowing you to see and modify related context at the same time. Project-related API key tokens, scanners, and connections can now be found on the detail page for that project.

Project API Key Tokens

  • We’ve removed the Groups tab from API Key Tokens page.

  • Group API tokens have been converted to project API tokens.

  • To create a new API key for a project, or manage existing tokens, navigate to Projects > View details and scroll down to the API key section of the project detail page.

Scanners

  • We’ve removed the Groups and Chatbots sections from Scanners page.

  • Existing group and chatbot configurations have been converted into project scanner configurations.

  • To manage scanner configurations associated with a project, navigate to Projects > View details and scroll to the Scanners section.

Connections

  • We’ve removed the Groups and Chatbots sections from Connections page

  • To manage connections associated with a project, navigate to Projects > View details and scroll to the Connections section.

NOTE: Red-Team projects are coming soon.

Custom Roles (CalypsoAI Inference Defend Only)

Customers told us that our permissioning model wasn’t flexible enough for their use cases. So we’re proud to announce granular custom roles for organization admins.

You’ll also notice that we’ve renamed the out-of-the-box roles to be more intuitive:

  • Super admin owner is now Org owner

  • System admin is now Org admin

  • Basic is now User

With custom roles you can create and name your own organization-level roles and assign them to users already in the system, or when inviting them to join. We’ve built several user-friendly features into the customer roles UI:

  • Cursor tracking so you can easily see where you are in the table.

  • Click the role name to quickly edit, duplicate, or delete.

  • Click the header to select all permissions in that category.

  • See how many users in the system have been assigned that role.

  • Renamed “Red Team Campaigns” to “Attack Campaigns”

  • Removed nested headers from Campaigns and Reports pages

Bugs

Import/export settings: Import didn’t fully restore all scanner settings back correctly. Fix introduced with projects change

Legacy audit events: For older accounts, some old audit records caused loading issues with the audit log.

Pagination: Timing out API request when limit was set to 0.

Campaign run report: Fixed Select Campaigns dropdown to show all existing campaigns.

Logs table filters resetting on navigation: Previously navigating through the rows of the logs table using the side panel would reset the filters, this has now been fixed and the filters will persist.

Reports table sort resetting on navigation: Previously navigating pages of the reports table would reset the sort order, this has now been fixed and the sort order will persist.

Basic user no access to API Tokens: This has been fixed and now all types of users will be able to view their personal API Tokens page.

Improvements to UI: A number of visual UI bugs have been fixed such as issues with responsiveness.

Purge modal: The purge modal will now only appear when purge is enabled and the number of weeks it is set to has changed.

Scanner Import: While trying to import previously exported scanners, users may have ran into an issue where the import modal is empty after uploading the zip. This has now been fixed.

Known Issues

  • After a prompt is blocked on the chat page and then you navigate to Playground. The blocked message state appears on the Playground chat field when Test Scanner is switched on. However you are still able to type in the text area and the state will reset after sending a message

  • On the scanners page after selecting a scanner or package and then deleting that scanner/package, the number beside the checkbox still remains instead of being unset

  • Creating a customer role, after supplying the name, if you edit the name before clicking save, you will encounter an Unexpected Error page.

  • In the prompt history table, selecting a prompt from a deleted project, displays a toast error, and doesn’t open the side panel.
